Verlaine-Colloque Sentimental and Mandoline from Fetes Galantes set to music
Two poems by Paul Verlaine set to music in two different ways:
Colloque sentimental is set for three equal voices a cappella, using an English translation by my father S N Solomons
and it then appears again in the original French in conjunction with (and after) Mandoline from Fetes galantes in a Watteau-inspired song for alto voice and guitar.
See the pdf files for the scores of each version and the ogg or mp3 files for my performance of each version and also a (spoken) recitation of Colloque sentimental in the original French.
You can also see a video of the trio version of Colloque Sentimental here
